For this portion respond to ONE of the following questions with a clear, well-reasoned essay that supports a thesis. Be sure to include specific reasons and details to support and illustrate each point you make.
The original agreement which governed the newly independent American colonies was the Articles of Confederation. Drawing from your text and lecture notes, write an essay examining the provisions for the Articles of Confederation. How did both large and small states feel about their government representation? What were the strengths and weaknesses of this government? Finally, analyze the uprising which led the founding fathers toward drafting a permanent constitution. Be sure to include specific details.
Lewis and Clark’s Expedition paved the way for westward expansion. The Expedition’s diversity contributed to its success. Drawing from your text and your lecture notes, write an essay in which you discuss the Lewis and Clark’s Expedition. Explain how the United States acquired the Louisiana Purchase. Discuss the various members and the contributions they brought to the Expedition. What were the goals of the Expedition, and was it successful? As always, be sure to address who, what, when, where, and why an event or a person was important. Be sure to include specific details.
